A FEW WORDS FOR THE PROSECUTION

How utterly refreshing--a man of strong conviction (perhaps a poor word choice) and solid moral fiber (“A Question of Guilt,” by Barry Siegel, Sept. 1). We need Jim McIntyre here in Los Angeles.
I am so pleased to see McIntyre’s efforts recognized. Law enforcement today seems all too eager to institutionalize the approach to crime investigation, where much that would fall between the cracks gets examined only when clues the size of B-52s present themselves.

In referring to prosecuting attorney Jim McIntyre’s challenging role as a single father, Siegel writes that “Men [aren’t] generally taught how to be single parents.” Thus Siegel implies he believes that women generally are being taught to be single parents.
As a service to Siegel’s women readers, I urge that he research and write about whoever it is that’s providing this widespread program of teaching women to be single mothers. As a woman, I have to admit that I did not know that such a service ever existed.
