Fullerton’s Defense Sparks 30-16 Victory Over Pasadena

PASADENA — Fullerton held Pasadena scoreless for three quarters as the Hornets won, 30-16, in a Mission Conference game Saturday at Pasadena.
Bobby Griffin opened the scoring for Fullerton (1-2) on a one-yard touchdown run with 3:58 left in the first quarter.
Midway through the second quarter, Chris Young caught a 61-yard touchdown pass from Paul Waldrop and the Hornets took a 14-0 lead. Carvel Gardner closed out the first-half scoring with a one-yard touchdown run and a 21-0 halftime lead for Fullerton.
Fullerton’s defense forced a safety early in the third quarter and took full advantage of the extra possession. Two minutes after the safety, Waldrop found Rodney Guy with a 42-yard touchdown pass and a 30-0 lead.
Waldrop completed eight of 15 passes for 149 yards for the Hornets.
Pasadena finally scored with 11:02 left in the fourth quarter when Tomahawk Maddox scored on a 60-yard touchdown run.
Later in the quarter, Ernie Baruch caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from David Guerra. Guerra then completed a pass to Tim Esquival for a two-point conversion that closed out the scoring for the Lancers (1-3, 1-3).
Guerra completed 20 of 34 passes and passed for 184 yards.
