Brandy, Gladys Knight, Tamia, Chaka Khan. . . . Any one of these capable divas could have handled this soundtrack album’s standout track, “Missing You,” on her own. Together, they just don’t gel. Contrast that track with the sultry, precision harmonies of En Vogue on “Don’t Let Go,” or the smoky give-and-take between Andrea Martin and Queen Latifah on the title track. It’s cuts like these which give this record its bite and punch.
