Oliver North to Lead Talk on Constitution
Conservative icon Oliver North, along with Assemblyman Bill Morrow (R-San Juan Capistrano), will speak and lead a public forum Friday at Saddleback College.
North, a former lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps and White House aide who gained fame during the Iran-contra hearings, will discuss the relevance of the U.S. Constitution.
Last year, Saddleback College became the center of a controversy because student leaders there refused to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at their meetings.
“Oliver North heard about the flag salute controversy last year and shared my alarm about students being denied the opportunity to salute the flag,†Morrow said.
Last month, a new student administration changed that policy, prompting Morrow to consider the school as an ideal location for the forum, a spokesperson said.
The free forum will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the Saddleback gymnasium, 28000 Marguerite Parkway. Information: (714) 489-2404.
