Litton, Honeywell Mediating Disputes: Following a federal court order, the companies plan to mediate their patent-infringement and antitrust lawsuits before Malcolm Lucas, a retired California Supreme Court chief justice. The lawsuits involve claims surrounding a product called a ring laser gyroscope that helps guide jetliners. Woodland Hills-based Litton so far has convinced juries that Honeywell owes Litton damages on both patent-infringement and antitrust grounds, but the amounts remain in dispute. Parallel with the mediation, the companies are preparing for new trials that would establish the damages due Litton.
