Medical Care From the Heart

It was heartwarming to read the Aug. 20 article about the wonderful treatment that Mary Jane Franck received, after suffering such grievous injuries to her leg.
We, the residents of the Conejo Valley, should feel proud to have such a dedicated and talented surgeon in our community. That Dr. Lawrence Borelli operated six times without guarantee of payment did not surprise me.
But it did make me wish that this nation’s billionaires--such as Ross Perot and the Michael Huffingtons--would donate a few millions of their dollars to establishing foundations to help defray the cost of surgical care for the needy, instead of squandering them on impossible dreams of political self-aggrandizement.
