Coach: Tom Coffey (24th year).
1995: Third in Southern Section Division II-A; Orange County Championships runner-up; Golden West League champion; 5-0 league dual-meet record.
Key returners: Tom Coffey, Sr.; Martin Kuklinski, Sr.; C.J. Marciales, Jr.; Daniel Smith, Sr.
Key newcomers: Ryan Dedmon, So.; Leo Gordillo, So.; Larry Rugley, Jr.; Ray Vergera, Sr.; Michael Yang, So.
Outlook: The Tillers enter the season with high hopes, and for good reason: Coffey lost only one of his top seven from a team that won the league meet last year. Smith was the league champion a year ago, while Marciales finished five seconds behind as runner-up. Gordio is slotted to be the third man, while Coffey, a 4:27.75 1,600-meter runner a year ago, is expected to run fourth. Kuklinski has been a solid contributor the last three years and was 16th in the league meet last fall. “If we stay healthy, we don’t have to worry about anybody but us,” Coffey said. “The top five are really something special.” The Tillers will move down to Division III this fall.
