Seniors Offered Free Rides to Meal Site
A filling meal and a sense of independence are only a ride away for senior citizens in Camarillo.
The Camarillo Health Care District offers local residents 55 and over free transportation to the Senior Nutrition Program meal site at 1605 Burnley St.
“If they don’t have transportation, they’re just at a loss,†said Jane Rozanski, district administrator.
The district’s Care-A-Van provided more than 170 rides to the meal site in August. Seniors who get out of the house often are less likely to need long-term care, Rozanski said. “The programs have been proven to keep them more independent and away from community care facilities,†she said.
