Chicago Bear cornerback Donnell Woolford said he was fined for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy when he was arrested for drunk driving July 2.

Jim McMahon remains Green Bay’s backup quarterback, behind Brett Favre, despite his absence because of a bad knee and the impressive play of Doug Pederson in last week’s exhibition win over New England.
“I didn’t bring Jim here to be the third quarterback,” Coach Mike Holmgren said.
