Workshop Scheduled to Explain Arts Grants
The Cultural Affairs Department of the city of Los Angeles will hold a grants workshop Thursday in Tujunga.
Each year the city awards thousands of dollars in grants to artists and cultural organizations who in turn are required to share their work with the community.
The purpose of the workshop is to explain the grants programs and make the public aware of the administrative and organizational changes that have taken place since last year, said Roella Hsieh Louie, director of grants for the Cultural Affairs Department. Representatives from Cultural Affairs will also be available to answer questions and hand out applications for the upcoming year.
Thursday’s workshop will focus specifically on a category called cultural grants, which are available to large-budget arts organizations and those with existing programming. Additionally, the workshop will provide information on a special fellowship program reserved for photographers and visual artists.
The deadline for cultural grants is Sept. 3.
Workshops for other categories of grants, including artists in the community and emerging arts organizations, will be announced later, with application deadlines in May.
The workshop will run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tujunga Community Auditorium, 7747 Foothill Blvd.
