Firefighters Called to Remove Wedding Ring
THOUSAND OAKS — It’s not the heaviest rescue of the year, but Ventura County firefighters had to use a cutting tool Saturday to remove a ring from a groom’s finger in Thousand Oaks.
The Ventura County Fire Department received a call about 8:25 p.m. to assist in a “ring removal†on Chalet Circle, authorities said.
When they arrived, firefighters found a house full of people celebrating a wedding reception--and the unidentified groom with his new wedding ring stuck on his finger.
It’s not that he changed his mind and had a tough time getting the ring off, said a Fire Department spokeswoman. “The ring was just too tight,†she said.
It took firefighters no time at all to remove the gold ring. “They used a jeweler’s ring cutter, which is a pretty common tool,†the spokeswoman said.
The ring removed, it was once again time to celebrate.
