Two Councilwomen to Seek Reelection
Saying they want to complete projects begun during their tenures, City Council members Helen Wilson and Ann Van Haun announced this week that they will run for reelection in November.
Two of five council seats will be open in this fall’s election, only the second for the city since it was incorporated in 1991.
In its first five years, officials have focused on establishing the city on a sound financial footing. One recent project was to set up a redevelopment agency that will study the potential for retail and commercial projects.
“I feel that there’s a lot of things we set out to do in the first four or five years, and I’d like to see them to completion,†said Van Haun, 61. “I think I still have something to offer.â€
Wilson, 46, a key figure in Lake Forest’s incorporation drive, said she had little doubt about whether to commit to another four-year term.
“We have projects and goals, and I feel that we’re right in the middle of some of these things,†she said. “I just want to finish what we’ve started.â€
The incumbents and any challengers have until Aug. 9 to submit their nomination papers to City Hall.
