Arson Suspected in Paint Shop Blaze

Police and fire officials are investigating a blaze they believe was intentionally set early Wednesday at an Oxnard car paint shop, a police spokesman said.
The fire, which started about 1 a.m., gutted a painting bay at the Earl Scheib shop at 141 E. Wooley Road.
Fire investigators believe a flammable liquid was used to set ablaze a car parked inside the shop, the spokesman said. The fire spread to the roof before firefighters could extinguish the flames.
No damage estimate was available. While investigators were looking at the incident as a burglary and arson, shop manager Joe Rosas said nothing was stolen. A 1987 Buick that was to be painted was destroyed.
