The Orange County Tourism Council, the newest arm of the Orange County Business Council, now has a director.
Bruce R. Brown, formerly head of small business and education programs for the business council, has been tapped to coordinate the activities of the new tourism group.
Formed in April, the tourism council is an outgrowth of years of discussion on how to create a regional marketing identity for Orange County and position it to compete with heavily marketed tourist destinations such as Las Vegas, San Diego and San Francisco.
Made up of a host of local tourism heavyweights, the tourism council currently is trying to craft a catchy logo and slogan to anchor a promotion campaign for Orange County.
