Sale of Farm Site Still Being Discussed
City and school officials last week said they need another 30 days to negotiate the sale of a farm site.
Originally, they expected to reach an agreement in the middle of July.
The Newport-Mesa Unified School District agreed to sell the 18 acres of former farmland next to Costa Mesa High School in March to the city to raise money for school repairs.
Costa Mesa said it was interested in the land because it needs more parks. If the sale goes through, the city plans to build an athletic complex on the site.
