Police Center Opens for Community Use
In an attempt to beef up its community policing efforts, the Inglewood Police Department has opened a community center where local businesses and residents can get to know the officers who patrol their neighborhood.
The Morningside Park Police Community Center is the first of four community centers slated to open in the city this year. The storefront operation is on Manchester Boulevard in the Morningside Park neighborhood. In addition to functioning as a substation, the center is open for the community to use Monday through Thursday.
The center hosts several programs, including meetings for the Neighborhood Watch programs and is also home to Rites of Passage, a mentor program sponsored by the department to teach children morals and values.
