Exhibitions on View at Film Academy

Two new exhibitions--”Artistry in Animation: The Drawings of Frederic Back” and “Sports Go to the Movies”--are on display at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, 8949 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills.
“Artistry in Animation,” in the academy’s fourth-floor gallery, features several hundred drawings by the Academy Award-winning animator as well as clips on video monitors from his nine films.
“Sports Go to the Movies,” in the academy’s Grand Lobby, is an exhibition of 40 vintage and contemporary movie posters, including those for “Chariots of Fire,” “The Other Side of the Mountain,” “Cool Runnings” and other films that depict Olympic sports.
Both exhibitions are free to the public and on display through Aug. 25. Hours for both shows are Tuesdays-Fridays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturdays-Sundays, noon-6 p.m.
