Alpha Microsystems Reports Loss, Decline in Sales in First Quarter
SANTA ANA — Computer products company Alpha Microsystems said it lost $344,000, or 5 cents a share, for the first fiscal quarter, contrasted with a profit of $51,000, or 1 cent a share, for the first quarter a year ago, which included a one-time gain of $211,000 related to the sale of certain businesses.
Sales for the quarter ended May 26 declined 16% to $7.1 million from $8.5 million. The company attributed the lower sales primarily to divestitures in the early part of last year, and continued erosion in sales of the company’s older product lines.
