Governor OKs $330-Million Atlantic City Plan: New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman approved the broad roadway improvement and construction project designed to benefit every casino in one of the nation’s biggest gambling meccas. The package includes a new road connecting the Atlantic City Expressway to the Marina district north of the boardwalk, which was sought by Mirage Resorts Inc. Mirage agreed to pay $55 million and lend an additional $180 million to the project, which will bring business to its planned $2-billion development at the Marina, where Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts Inc. and Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. already have casinos. Donald Trump opposed the original Marina roadway plan because it would have bypassed his Trump’s Castle property.
