The Salvation Army and Mervyn’s are planning a shopping excursion intended to purchase clothes for as many as 500 needy Orange County youngsters.
The Salvation Army selected the children from a network of social service programs and the department store is helping to underwrite the effort.
The plan is to buy $75 worth of clothing for each youngster during an Aug. 5 shopping spree.
The Salvation Army is seeking donations to ensure that as many of the children as possible will be able to participate. Volunteers are needed to help the youngsters select clothing.
The effort is being orchestrated by the Salvation Army Orange County Women’s Auxiliary.
