SANTA PAULA — A Santa Paula man is being held in the County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail on suspicion of burglary and assault to commit rape, stemming from an incident Saturday morning in Santa Paula.
Guillermo Hernandez, 33, is suspected of crawling through the bathroom window of a house on North 7th Street about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, said Santa Paula Police Sgt. Wes Easley.
After being confronted by the intruder, the female resident fled the house with her son, Easley said. She went to a nearby ambulance station and called police.
Police took Hernandez into custody as he was trying to leave the area, Easley said.
The woman identified Hernandez as the man who entered her house and allegedly made sexual advances, according to Easley.
He was booked at the Santa Paula Police Department and transported to the Ventura County Jail. Arraignment has been set for Tuesday.
