Bagdad Cafe (Showtime Tuesday at 5 p.m.) Percy Adlon’s adorable 1987 comic fable set in a ramshackle motel-restaurant on the edge of the Mojave Desert features a triumphant teaming of of the Rubenesque Marianne Sagebrecht as a stranded German tourist and the formidable C.C.H. Pounder, as the cafe and motel’s proprietor. With Jack Palance as a memorably comic permanent guest of the motel.
The Love Parade (AMC Monday at 12:15 a.m.) Jeanette MacDonald made her 1929 film debut in this lively, sophisticated Ernst Lubitsch-directed Ruritanian operetta, which teamed her with Maurice Chevalier. Singer Lillian Roth and comedian Lupino Lane are the film’s notable second leads.
