2 Held in Bank Heist; 3rd Man Sought
NORTHRIDGE — Police arrested two suspected robbers as they fled a bank Saturday, but a third robber escaped, authorities said.
The takeover robbery occurred at about 12:30 p.m. at the Citibank branch in the 19300 block of Rinaldi Street, said Kiara Andrich, an FBI spokeswoman.
Three armed men wearing black ski masks walked into the bank, ordered everyone down and demanded money from tellers, Andrich said.
The men were believed to have carried semiautomatic weapons, but did not fire them, she said.
No injuries were reported, according to authorities.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division captured two of the suspects, Andrich said.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether the third man got away with any money, authorities said.
The robbery was the 80th in the Valley this year, compared with 45 for all of last year, according to FBI statistics.
Investigators were trying to determine whether the suspects were connected to any of a handful of holdup rings believed responsible for a rash of other robberies.
“So far they haven’t been linked to anyone else,†Andrich said.
