Robert R. (Bob) De Armond of Meiners Oaks, a retired heavy equipment operator, has died. He was 80.

De Armond was born March 8, 1916, in Vale, Ore.. After he moved from Oregon he lived in Meiners Oaks for 50 years.

A longtime heavy equipment operator, De Armond retired in 1981. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 12 since 1950 and a member of American Legion Post 48, Ojai.

De Armond served in the Navy Seabees during World War II.

De Armond is survived by his wife, Lena, of Meiners Oaks; stepchildren Barbara Clausen of Ojai, Mary Mushaney of Meiners Oaks, Sally Bolton of San Diego, and Claude Decker of Meiners Oaks; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Clausen Funeral Home, Ojai. Pastor Don Moore will officiate. Interment will follow at Ivy Lawn Cemetery, Ventura.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.
