Motion by AT&T;, Lucent to Drop Suit Is Denied: DSC Communications Corp. said a federal court in Dallas rejected a request by the largest U.S. long-distance phone company and Lucent Technologies Inc. to dismiss a $3.5-billion lawsuit brought by DSC and Bell Atlantic Corp. DSC and Bell Atlantic filed their suit in February, alleging that AT&T; Corp. monopolized a segment of the telecommunications equipment and software markets, as well as the market for caller ID services, by refusing to build equipment that is easily compatible with gear made by other companies. Plano, Texas-based DSC makes telecom equipment. Lucent is the former equipment arm of AT&T.;
