Palm Springs Escape

We recently stayed at Villa Royale in Palm Springs, which was featured in “Weekend Escape: Palm Springs” on May 12. Our room was OK, even though the window had a broken pane, but we noticed a dilapidated gazebo leaning near a stagnant man-made stream outside. Our dining experience in Europa, the restaurant on-site, was our biggest disappointment. Because we declined to order any wine or drinks with dinner, our waiter chose to ignore us as much as possible. When he made a rare table-side appearance, he was flippant. When we finally received our overpriced dinner, it was barely mediocre. We would not recommend Villa Royale to the discriminating traveler.
