Edward Christian Madsen; Electronics Expert

Edward Christian Madsen, 57, an electronics and physics expert who volunteered to fly medical personnel to Mexico. Born in Solvang, Calif., Madsen studied at Grand View College in Des Moines and UC Santa Barbara. He served in the Navy. For more than 25 years, he worked for technical instrument manufacturers in the Santa Barbara area. Madsen was an avid pilot and flew for Aeromedicos, a Santa Barbara-based volunteer organization that sends medical professionals to provide health care to the Yaqui Indians in Sonora, Mexico. Proud of his Danish heritage, Madsen was active in the Danish Brotherhood in America and served as state president and a national director. On Friday near Santa Barbara in an airplane accident.
