Grant Will Expand Mobile Meals Program
Friends in Service to Humanity-Harbor Area Inc. has received a $15,000 grant to help fund two programs that help single parents and residents in need of home care.
A total of $10,000 of the George Hoag Family Foundation’s contribution will go toward Mobile Meals, a program that allows volunteers to deliver hot meals to residents who are sick or unable to leave their homes.
The foundation has given another $5,000 to a child-care subsidy program that the organization--known as FISH-Harbor Area--offers to low-income single parents who are trying to hold a job or attend school.
The grant will enable the Mobile Meals program, which serves 50 people now in Costa Mesa, Irvine and Newport Beach, to serve as many as 100. FISH-Harbor Area will need volunteers for its new Mobile Meals route expected to start June 1. Call (714) 642-6060.
