The bodies of two teenage girls who apparently committed suicide by jumping off a cliff at Point Fermin Park in San Pedro were found on rocks at the base of the bluff Thursday morning, police said.

“There’s no evidence of foul play,†said Det. Lyle Prideaux of the Harbor Division. “There is nothing to indicate they were forced off the cliff.â€

The bodies of the girls, who were between 15 and 18, were found by members of a church group who were studying tide pools, police said.

Los Angeles City Fire Department Capt. Bob Franco said a string had been tied to a wrist of each girl, apparently connecting the two.
