Trimedyne Inc.: The Irvine medical laser manufacturer incurred a net loss for the second fiscal quarter of $980,000, or 10 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $1.2 million, or 12 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue for the quarter ended March 31 declined 6% to $3 million from $3.2 million. For the first six months, the company lost $1.9 million, or 20 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $2 million, or 22 cents a share, for the first half a year ago.

Revenue dropped 6% to $5.9 million from $6.3 million. The company said the lower revenue reflects the continued tightness in hospital budgets for capital equipment, particularly overseas. Trimedyne attributed the smaller losses to reduced operating costs.
