PacifiCare to Sell 9 Clinics
CYPRESS — PacifiCare Health Systems Inc. said it will sell the nine medical clinics serving its southern Florida managed health-care plans to closely held PrimeCare International Inc. Terms were not disclosed.
PacifiCare’s Florida unit will contract with PrimeCare for medical services for its 40,000 private-pay members and to future members of its Secure Horizons plan for Medicare beneficiaries expected to open later this year. PacifiCare’s contract with PrimeCare takes effect June 1.
The nine clinics operate under the name Pasteur Delivery Systems.
PrimeCare currently provides medical services to 165,000 members of health maintenance organizations and 55,000 fee-for-service members in Southern California, Oklahoma and New York City. PacifiCare has more than 1.9 million members in its managed health-care plans in California, Florida, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Washington.
