FTC Urged to Investigate Web Site: The Center for Media Education filed a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, asserting that the KidsCom Web site operated by SpectraCom is deceptive because its real purpose is to collect personal data, not to entertain or educate children. SpectraCom has previously said that educators have praised its site and that responding to some survey information is optional. The FTC has jurisdiction over advertising claims.
