MISPLACED PRAISE

Calling network TV promotional/marketing people, like NBC’s John Miller and Vince Manze, “savvy” is akin to calling Mike Tyson a feminist or Pamela Anderson Lee a guy (“The 800-Pound Peacock,” by Greg Braxton, April 21).
Of course, it is just as ridiculous to heap praise on NBC’s programming heads, Don Ohlmeyer and Warren Littlefield. They are winning the ratings war with a pathetic 11, when it is clear that a major network could be generating a 16 or 17 if it had management who truly understands TV and what viewers want.
The only reason NBC is in first place is that they are slightly less incompetent than their competition. Sorry, Greg, there is no other explanation.
