In other South Coast League games:
San Clemente 3, Dana Hills 0--Mike Leinen pitched a three-hitter, struck out five and walked none for host San Clemente (8-13-2, 3-8-1). Cory Tolmasoff had two hits, two runs scored and two stolen bases for the Tritons.
Trabuco Hills 14, Mission Viejo 4--Dan Alvarez hit a grand slam in the top of the first to lead Trabuco Hills (11-9-1, 6-5-1). Graham Robby added three RBIs for the Mustangs. Mission Viejo (8-14, 4-8) was led by Greg Carr with three hits and an RBI.
In the Empire League:
Katella 3, Century 0--Drake Gustafson hit an RBI triple to highlight a three-run sixth and winning pitcher Joe Fraser struck out 14, walked one and allowed five singles for host fifth-ranked Katella (17-6, 9-3).
In the Freeway League:
Fullerton 2, La Habra 0--Michael Garner struck out 10, increasing his county-leading total to 103 on the season. Garner, who also leads the county in earned runs, lowered his ERA to 0.31 for Fullerton (17-4-1, 11-0-1). Mario Ramirez went two for two with a double and an RBI for Fullerton.
Sunny Hills 10, Buena Park 2--Greg Garand had a double, triple, one run scored and six RBIs for host Sunny Hills (10-11, 6-6).
In the Garden Grove League:
Los Amigos 5, Rancho Alamitos 4--Miguel Dorado had three hits and two RBIs for Los Amigos (8-12, 2-7). Teammate Greg Madrid went two for two with three runs scored and Rene Camarillo hit his first home run of the season with a solo shot in the fifth.
Pacifica 7, Santiago 5--Jon Fenoglio’s first home run of the year was a game-winning three-run shot in the top of seventh for Pacifica (13-8-1, 8-2). Fenoglio finished three for four. Teammate John Ames had three hits and a run scored and Trevor Stivers had two hits and three runs scored.
In the Golden West League:
Ocean View 3, Saddleback 1--Chad Mast hit a two-out, two-run double in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie for visiting Ocean View (11-12, 7-5). Winning pitcher Jason Martini went 6 2/3 innings, allowed only two singles, struck out four and walked three.
Tustin 15, Santa Ana 1--Pepe Vasquez hit a double, a sacrifice and had three RBIs for Tustin (13-9, 7-5).
In the Orange League:
Brea Olinda 3, Savanna 1--Curt Fraund hit a three-run double in the first inning for Brea Olinda (12-10, 8-4). Fraund picked up his first save on the mound, pitching three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two.
Western 10, Anaheim 9--Winning pitcher Bret Halbert didn’t allow an earned run through six innings and he hit a two-run triple in the fourth for host Western (13-10, 7-5), which led, 10-1, after six innings.
In the Sea View League:
Irvine 7, El Toro 6--Irvine (13-8-1, 8-3-1) moved into a first-place tie with El Toro (16-6-1) on the strength of Joey O’Toole’s third hit and third RBI with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ryan Brucker (three stolen bases) also had three hits for the Vaqueros. El Toro’s Clemente Bonilla, who had a two-run homer, was the only other player with multiple RBIs. Brian Krill (8-3), who had a 1.88 ERA but survived five earned runs, got the complete-game victory. The teams play again Friday at El Toro.
Santa Margarita 7, Corona del Mar 2--Craig Harrison (5-0) allowed four hits in a complete game, giving up two home runs for Santa Margarita (12-9, 6-6). Randell Shelley had three hits, including a home run, and Jimmy Luster went three for three with two RBIs for the Eagles. Corona del Mar (12-9, 6-6) and Santa Margarita remained tied for third in league.
Woodbridge 13, Newport Harbor 3--Brian Fishel had five RBIs and two doubles for Woodbridge (9-12, 5-7). Brian Quinn pitched the entire game with eight strikeouts and teammate Will Whiteley had two RBIs for the Warriors.
In the Sunset League:
Edison 5, Marina 3--Ron Aparicio (7-2) pitched his sixth complete game with seven strikeouts for Edison (10-12, 6-6). Vince Catani had two RBIs for the Chargers.
Fountain Valley 7, Esperanza 2 (10 innings)--Chris Fusillo doubled in one run and Robert Alvarez hit a two-run single to highlight a six-run 10th for visiting Fountain Valley (17-6, 9-3), ranked sixth in the county. Winning pitcher Steve Schenewerk (10-2) struck out 11 and allowed only one earned run in a complete-game victory for the Barons.
Los Alamitos 6, Huntington Beach 1--Kevin Feterik had two hits, two runs scored and Eric Albright went four for four with an RBI for the host Griffins (15-8, 6-6), who had 13 hits.
