D.C. United Defeats Dallas, 3-1, for First MLS Victory

Washington D.C. United scored its first Major League Soccer victory Wednesday night, defeating the Dallas Burn, 3-1, in front of 11,253 at RFK Stadium.

D.C. United, which lost its first four games, never trailed after Salvadoran striker Raul Diaz Arce’s third goal of the season in the 15th minute. Dallas (3-2) tied the score in the 43rd minute on a goal by Washington Rodriguez.

Bolivian forward Marco Etcheverry put D.C. United back in front eight minutes into the second half on a 23-yard free kick for his first MLS goal.

Steve Rammel’s goal in the 68th minute clinched the victory.
