Newcomers Welcome at Mall Walking Club
A club that promotes walking for good health is seeking new members.
Called “Walk Our Way,†the club sponsors and encourages walkers in Buena Park Mall at La Palma and Stanton avenues. It is co-sponsored by La Palma Intercommunity Hospital and Martin Luther Hospital in Anaheim.
“Walkers can get material about the club, including a card to record their walking mileage, at the information booth in the Buena Park Mall,†said Nancy Goetsch, a nurse who coordinates the free program.
The program, open to people of all ages, encourages members to walk whenever the mall is open, she said. The shopping center is open to walkers as early as 6 a.m.
About 300 people are members of the club, Goetsch said. Each walker who logs 50 miles of mall walking gets a free T-shirt.
Goetsch offers free health screenings, including blood pressure checks, at the mall between 8 and 10 a.m. on the last Tuesday of each month as part of the club’s services.
