JetHawks Rally to Victory
LANCASTER — The JetHawks remained in first place in the California League Southern Division with a 5-4 victory over the San Bernardino Stampede before 3,474 Monday night at Lancaster Municipal Stadium.
The JetHawks (17-8) moved 1 1/2 games ahead of the Stampede (15-9) with three games remaining in the teams’ first head-to-head series of the year.
San Bernardino pitcher Jeff Keppen limited the JetHawks to two hits through five innings, and the Stampede held a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth.
But the JetHawks scored three runs against reliever Eddie Oropesa in the sixth, with Jesus Marquez, Carlos Villalobos and James Clifford each driving in runs. Marquez, who was two for four, extended his hitting streak to 16 games.
JetHawks starter Brett Hinchliffe (3-0) gave up six hits and three runs in six innings. John Daniels pitched the final three innings to earn his third save.
