World IN BRIEF : CANADA : Parcel Bomb Injures Jewish Center Worker

A package bomb exploded at the Calgary Jewish Center, sending one woman to a hospital with minor injuries, a police spokesman said. The woman, a secretary at the center, was treated for minor burns, police spokesman Brendan Kapuscinski said. “We’re speculating the package malfunctioned and only partially exploded,� he said. Police and local Jewish organizations said they were unaware of any group taking responsibility for the incident, and no reports of anti-Jewish activity were said to have surfaced before the blast. The province of Alberta is known to be a base for various white supremacy groups.
