World IN BRIEF : CANADA : Parcel Bomb Injures Jewish Center Worker
A package bomb exploded at the Calgary Jewish Center, sending one woman to a hospital with minor injuries, a police spokesman said. The woman, a secretary at the center, was treated for minor burns, police spokesman Brendan Kapuscinski said. “We’re speculating the package malfunctioned and only partially exploded,†he said. Police and local Jewish organizations said they were unaware of any group taking responsibility for the incident, and no reports of anti-Jewish activity were said to have surfaced before the blast. The province of Alberta is known to be a base for various white supremacy groups.
