Music: Mercury Records President Danny Goldberg has launched a joint-venture record label deal with Triloca Records, a Santa Fe, N.M.-based firm that specializes in world beat music by such artists as Hugh Masekela and Ali Akbar Kahn. Mercury, which is owned by PolyGram, will also take over marketing, radio promotion and sales duties for Def Jam Recordings, home to such stars as LL Cool J and Montell Jordan. Def Jam, which is half-owned by PolyGram, was previously affiliated with PolyGram’s Island Records division.
