STOCKTON — A tornado touched down at a marina Monday, damaging and sinking boats.
U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Shelly Freier said the twister hit about 5 p.m., knocking loose about 1,000 feet of covered dock at the Tiki Lagun Marina, about five miles west of Stockton on the Sacramento-San Joaquin delta.
There were no reported injuries, but about 200 sailboats and powerboats sank or were damaged, Freier said.
In addition to the twister and tornado-like winds in other areas, the storm brought lightning, downpours and flooding.
There were reports of downed trees and power poles, along with auto accidents. There was scattered flooding south of Sacramento.
