Barging in France
After reading about a French barge trip aboard Claire de Lune (“Memories of France,†Letters, Nov. 6, 1994), my parents made an August booking for the family Christmas surprise. I cannot think of a more pleasing and luxurious way to rest, talk and laugh than those six days on the Claire de Lune winding through the French canals with just the four of us and boat owners Jim and Karine Marett. Meals were excellent and the Maretts were sensitive hosts, not planning too much activity and quietly adapting to the needs of their guests. The Maretts can be reached through their American booking agent, Margaret Keiller, at (800) 804-7024.
