Playboy founder Hugh Hefner will celebrate his forthcoming 70th birthday tonight at the USC School of Cinema-Television at ceremonies marking his $1.5-million gift that will endow the Hugh M. Hefner Chair for the Study of American Film. Professor Richard B. Jewell will be installed as the first chair holder. . . . Composer Elmer Bernstein, who has been nominated for Oscars 13 times and won once (“Thoroughly Modern Millie,” 1967), gets a star on Hollywood Boulevard (between La Brea and Sycamore avenues) at 11:30 a.m. festivities today.
