* Kevin McKiernan (letter, March 14) is quite wrong to claim that UK Prime Minister John Major has rejected the recommendations for political progress and the decommissioning of illegal terrorist armaments as recommended by former U.S. Sen. George Mitchell’s international commission.
Major and all political parties in Northern Ireland, with the exception of Gerry Adams and Sinn Fein, have accepted the Mitchell proposals.
Following our elections in Northern Ireland, all parties winning seats will be invited to subscribe to the Mitchell principles. Those who refuse will be excluded from the proposed all-party talks.
