EL RIO — Two teenage boys were wounded in what police believe was a gang-related drive-by shooting in the 3400 block of Balboa Street Wednesday evening.
The unidentified boys, believed to be 15 and 17 years old, were transported to St. John’s Regional Medical Center and were reported to be in stable condition, said Senior Deputy Larry Logan of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
The boys were shot after exchanging words with the occupants of a car, who fired a handgun and a shotgun outside a house at 3479 Balboa Street about 8:25 p.m., he said. The car then sped away.
Sheriff’s deputies were still looking for the assailants late Wednesday.
