Newport REIT Names New Vice President

* Hank Baker has been named vice president of marketing for Irvine Apartment Communities, a Newport Beach real estate investment trust. He had been an independent consultant for the company since June. Before that, he consulted with residential development companies throughout the western United States as principal of Baker Property Advisors in Park City, Utah. Baker also was vice president for Northern California of Forest City Properties Corp.

* Jim Moore has been appointed vice president of customer support for State of the Art Inc., an Irvine accounting software developer. He previously headed Delrina Corp.’s customer support operations and management information systems, and before that ran the Canadian support and service operation for Lotus Development Corp.

* John Gamble has been named 1996 president for the Orange County chapter of the National Assn. of Industrial and Office Properties. He is a managing partner in the Orange County office of the Allen, Matkins, Leck Gamble & Mallory law firm.

* Gary Hayakawa and Jim Lindberg have been reappointed to serve four-year terms on the board of directors of the Orange County Fair and Exposition Center in Costa Mesa. Hayakawa is president of Three Star Nursery in Fountain Valley. Lindberg is a real estate agent for Balboa Island Realty. Both were initially appointed in 1992 to serve on the nine-member board.

* David Broadfoot has been named area vice president for sales for GTE Directories’ West region. He is based in Los Alamitos. Broadfoot, who joined GTE in 1984, was most recently division manager in Tampa.

* Tom Rockefeller has opened a D.E. Frey & Co. Inc. brokerage in Newport Beach. He was formerly a first vice president at Prudential Securities, and before that founded Summit Securities Group, an institutional bond firm.

* Brad Dinsmore, a vice president at Bank of America, has been appointed district manager of the north Orange-Long Beach district. He will be responsible for overseeing sales and service at 32 traditional and grocery store branches. Dinsmore succeeds Dana Drago, who is now manager of the south Orange County district. Dinsmore was previously district sales manager.

* Christopher Spivey has joined Orange National Bank as vice president and business development officer of the Bank’s SBA preferred lender loan department. He will be responsible for the development of new SBA loans within the bank’s central and north county region. Spivey joins the bank from Bank of Commerce, where he was vice president and business development officer for SBA loans.

* Audra K. Nelsas has been named vice president of real estate asset management for Watson Land Co. in Fullerton, a developer of industrial and commercial property. She had been director of real estate asset management for the company.

* Scott M. Golding has been appointed to the new position of director of customer support for the Del Mar Laser Optics division of Del Mar Avionics in Irvine. Before joining the company, Golding was with an international electro-optical firm where he held several technical positions including engineering vice president. Prior to that, he managed his own engineering consulting firm where he provided early design work to Mattel Electronics.

* Joe A. Mazza has been named senior account executive at Merit Property Management in Mission Viejo. Mazza, who has been with the company seven years, was previously account executive.

* James Hoff has been appointed director of sales for Asics Tiger Corp., a Fountain Valley sporting goods manufacturer. He had been national sales manager. In his new position, Hoff will take on additional corporate management responsibilities.
