David Herrera pitched a two-hitter, striking out 11 batters in Carson’s 7-0 victory over Crenshaw in the Southern Pacific Conference opener Monday. . . . In another Southern Pacific Conference opener, Narbonne made three errors in the first inning against San Pedro and lost, 4-3. . . . Chris Thompson struck out nine batters and drove in four runs to lead Gardena past Dorsey, 9-0. Catcher Kenji Sukimoto had three stolen bases for Gardena. . . . Harold Betts’ three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning helped Lakewood to a 10-3 victory over St. John Bosco on Monday. . . . Monique Roussell of Gahr pitched a perfect game to help the Gladiators win the Cypress softball tournament consolation championship. . . . San Pedro won every event in a 70-44 rout of Banning in boys’ swimming. The Banning girls’ swimming team fared no better, losing to San Pedro, 78-24. It was San Pedro’s first victory of the season.
