Authorities Thursday morning arrested six men and two teenagers during a gang sweep in Thousand Oaks.
Nine others may be arrested after the Ventura County Probation Department completes its investigation.
Officers from the Ventura County sheriff’s and probation departments, along with officials from the Ventura and Simi Valley police departments, conducted 33 probation searches between 7 and 11 a.m. Most of those searched are suspected gang members on probation for weapons and drug charges.
The raid was prompted by increased gang activity in the area in the past month, officials said. Those arrested on suspicion of violating terms of their probation were Josh Adams, 19; John Gerstner, 18; Jose Hernandez, 21; Bucky Matueski, 18; Aristeo Quintero, 20, and Gary Shawgo, 19. Also arrested were a 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl.
