WEEKEND TV : Gable, Angelou and Plenty of Politics on Tap

There’s something for everyone this weekend on TV, including several documentaries, a new HBO comedy special and a “Laugh-In†reunion.

Tall, fair and handsome Liam Neeson hosts “Clark Gable: Tall, Dark and Handsome,†a profile of the Oscar-winning star, Sunday at 4, 5 and 8 p.m. on TNT. Included are clips from Gable films such as “It Happened One Night†and “Gone With the Wind†and interviews with his son, John Clark Gable, and Robert Wagner. TNT also will air Gable’s “The King and Four Queens†at 5 p.m., “Lone Star†at 9 p.m., “Teacher’s Pet†at 11 p.m. and “Across the Wide Missouri†at 1:30 a.m.

KCET-TV will repeat the “American Experience†documentary “The Battle Over Citizen Kane†at 7 tonight. The classic 1941 film follows at 9 p.m. (28).

For those fans of ancient mythology, NBC is offering a look at “Atlantis: The Lost Continent,†Sunday at 7 p.m. (4). Richard Crenna hosts.

In honor of Black History Month, Lifetime presents “Intimate Portrait: Maya Angelou,†Sunday at 10 p.m., a one-hour special on the multidimensional renaissance woman.

Popular comedian Paula Poundstone goes Ivy League in her latest HBO comedy special, “Paula Poundstone Goes to Harvard,†tonight at 10.

KCET and KOCE-TV will simulcast the two-hour live special “Act Now,†Sunday at 5 p.m. The Volunteer Center of Los Angeles and 20 youth agencies will be recruiting volunteers for community service.

Veeery interesting! “Laugh-In†regulars Henry Gibson, Arte Johnson, Gary Owens and Jo Anne Worley play guests at a bizarre cocktail party on NBC’s “Mad About You,†Sunday at 8 p.m. (4).
