Update : Follow-up on the news : Gym-Pool Building Under Renovation
A portion of the City Gym and Pool will be closed until Feb. 19 because of a major renovation project underway to improve the historic building.
The facility on Palm Avenue and 17th Street in the downtown area has an indoor pool, game room and gymnasium. Only the gym will remain open during construction.
The building, constructed in 1931, will receive a $2-million face-lift with renovations done in phases. The city will use $500,000 in federal grant money for the first phase, which includes improvements to the pool and other repairs.
