Valleywide : ‘Report Cards’ Show Schools’ Progress
Parents concerned about how well their child’s school is doing can obtain a “report card” detailing the school’s progress, starting today.
Through the Los Angeles Unified School District’s School Accountability’s Reports, interested parents and community members can learn about the state of each of the district’s more than 1,000 schools.
“The School Accountability Reports are each school’s annual report to the community,” Supt. Sid Thompson said. “These reports provide parents and community members with information to help them evaluate their neighborhood schools, including how a school is meeting its educational goals.”
In February or March, each school principal is obligated to meet with community members and parents to go over the reports, which cover the 1994-95 school year, district officials said. Also included in the reports are budgets for the school, enrollment numbers and salaries of employees.
Starting in 1990, LAUSD’s School Accountability Reports have been updated annually, as required by the 1988 state ballot measure Proposition 98.
The reports are available in a number of languages, including Spanish, Tagalog, Cantonese, Korean and Armenian.
